It is obvious that packaging tape and adhesive tape must differ depending on the requirements. At WBV, we differentiate according to these product features:

Material: PVC, PP, PET, PE or paper
Noise: loud or quiet rolling
Adhesive: (natural rubber, hotmelt or acrylate adhesive)

PP- packaging tapes, acrylic, noisy

These packing films consist of a biaxially stretched (i.e. not stretchable in width), transparent polypropylene film (PP), which is coated on one side with a water-based acrylic glue. The tapes are used wherever the aging and UV stability of packaging is important. Particularly suitable for the long-term bonding of light-weight to medium-weight cardboard. Hard glue setting – good pressure is necessary for optimum cross-linking between adhesive tape and cardboard.

Our cost-effective 801/808 entry-level acrylic versions, with noisy tape unwinding, are produced with a variety of foil and total thicknesses in order to meet all customer requirements or purposes (for example, gluing of boxes, bundling work, pallet securing). Available for both manual and mechanical processing.

PP packaging tapes, acrylic, low-noise

These packing films consist of a biaxially stretched (i.e. not stretchable in width), transparent polypropylene film (PP), which is coated on one side with a water-based acrylic glue with low noise tape unwinding. The tapes are used wherever the aging and UV stability of packaging is important. Excellent for long-term bonding of light-weight to medium-weight cardboard (PP-850, PP-851, PP-861) as well as for heavy cardboard with our Ulith Premium and Ulith Star tapes.

These “Premium” and “Star” ranges are also particularly suitable for bonding recycled cardboard and for higher quality applications due to the extra thick adhesive application. Hard glue setting – good pressure is necessary for optimum cross-linking between adhesive tape and cardboard.

These acrylic tape variants with silent or low noise unwinding are produced with a variety of foil and total thicknesses to meet all customer requirements or purposes (e.g. gluing of boxes, bundling work, pallet securing). Available as standard for manual processing.

PP packaging tape, hot-melt

These packing films consist of a biaxially stretched (i.e. not stretchable in width), transparent polypropylene film (PP), which is coated on one side with a rubber resin glue / hot melt adhesive. The tapes are used for bonding light, medium and heavy cardboard.

The special adhesive composition achieves high initial tack and shear strength as well as better aging resistance. Synthetic rubber tapes are generally produced with noisy tape unwinding, but can be rolled off very easily in comparison due to a special release coating / surface treatment (advantage for continuous processing, for example in the contract packaging sector).

Our 831 and 831/E series are available for both manual and machine processing. If a particularly high longitudinal tensile strength is needed for the glue, we recommend our 871 PP tape, which is reinforced with 3 longitudinal and 1 sinus thread.

These packing films consist of a biaxially stretched (i.e. not stretchable in width), transparent, tear-resistant polypropylene film (PP), which is coated on one side with a natural rubber glue / solvent, with optional noisy (PP-826, PP-836, PP-846) or low noise (PP-840) tape unwinding.

The natural rubber packaging tapes are used for bonding light, medium and heavy cardboard. Soft adhesive setting – therefore particularly well suited for joining to demanding cardboard surfaces / recycled cardboard. Due to the natural rubber adhesive, they can also be used to package cartons that are stored in cold stores (subject to the right storage and processing temperature). Available for both manual and mechanical processing.

PVC packaging tapes, natural rubber (solvent), low noise

These packing films consist of a smooth, tear-resistant transparent hard PVC film (polyvinyl chloride), which is coated on one side with a natural rubber adhesive / solvent. The carrier film is mono-axially stretched (both the length and width can be stretched), which makes them particularly tear-resistant. In general, our natural rubber PVC packing tapes are produced with low noise unwinding.

For a comparably easier / softer dispensing, we recommend our surface-structured PVC series 865. PVC adhesive tapes are mainly used as packaging adhesive tape, for cardboard packaging, for bundling, marking and technical purposes. If a particularly high longitudinal tensile strength is needed for gluing medium-heavy cardboard boxes, we recommend our PVC tape 868, which is reinforced with 3 longitudinal and 1 sinus thread.

High-Tack tapes

These packing films, each with a 2″ or 3″ core, consist of a biaxially stretched (i.e. not stretchable in width), transparent and tear-resistant polypropylene film (PP), which are coated on one side with a solvent-free adhesive. Due to the specially modified adhesive formulation, the high-tack tapes are used to bond light and medium-weight cardboard packaging and for short-term pallet securing or bundling and fixing objects.

Slightly harder adhesive setting – good pressure is required for optimum cross-linking between tape and cardboard. As “solvent replacement” tapes, they are also suitable for packaging cartons that are stored in cold stores (subject to the right storage and processing temperatures). Available for both manual and mechanical processing.

Paper packing tapes, aluminium tapes, printed & other

Paper packaging tapes with natural rubber / solvent adhesive for manual or mechanical bonding of light and medium-weight cardboard boxes. Also suitable for bundling and marking. Thanks to the uncoated paper carrier, it is particularly environmentally friendly to recycle (cardboard and sealing tape = single-material packaging).

Aluminium tapes (made of pure aluminium or PE-cushioned) for connecting insulating materials, as moisture barriers for butt joints or as a repair and masking tape.

Printed PP or PVC tapes as warning tapes with standard prints or as your personal advertising medium with individual prints in different colour combinations. Available in PP or PVC quality with established high-adhesion acrylic glue, hot melt or solvent adhesives. Depending on the product type, we can print up to 8 colours in absolute top quality using the offset or sandwich printing process. Gummed paper tape

Our water-activated gummed paper tape made of craft paper for extremely secure box sealing, even on slightly dusty cardboard surfaces, is available with and without reinforcement in a variety of dimensions.

For the best bonding of light to medium-weight cardboard boxes, the version without reinforcement can be used; to bond heavy packaged goods, we recommend the versions with longitudinal or cross-reinforcement. After the adhesive dries out, cardboard boxes cannot be opened without visible damage to the surface of the cardboard, meaning that any unauthorised opening is immediately identifiable.

The tapes are not sensitive to temperature and are particularly environmentally friendly as they are biodegradable. Of course, they can also be produced with your own individual print for use as an advertising medium!
